Performance Since Publication

Persistfolio publishes 16 standardized model portfolios across four analysis horizons and four portfolio sizes.

Each portfolio is constructed using the same rules-based methodology and tracked prospectively against the S&P 500 from its publication date. Portfolios are reviewed quarterly, and all subsequent portfolio changes remain part of the published record. The same published model portfolios are available to every subscriber.

Historical Leaders — Performance Since Publication

Historical Leaders is a separate, deliberately simple model family: each quarter, it ranks the eligible S&P 500 universe by trailing price return over a 3-, 5-, or 10-year lookback and holds the top 10 or 20 performers, equal-weighted.

Unlike Persistfolio, Historical Leaders does not use statistical qualification, persistence testing, or sector diversification rules, and the portfolio is fully reconstructed — not retained and reviewed — at every quarterly formation date. Our own historical research found this approach carries substantially higher turnover and can result in much greater sector concentration than Persistfolio. Results shown use gross price returns and do not include dividends, transaction costs, taxes, or other implementation costs.

Finishing ahead of the market isn't the same as getting there consistently.

Two stocks can both finish ahead of the market while showing very different histories. Persistfolio tests whether there is statistical evidence that the historical advantage was persistent.

Persistent outperformance

The advantage builds more consistently over time.

Persistent outperformance detected

The historical advantage met Persistfolio's persistence criteria.

Outperformance, but not persistent

It still finishes ahead — but the advantage is much less consistent.

A Rules-Based Approach to Portfolio Research

Persistfolio doesn't forecast where the market is headed, and there's no portfolio manager picking stocks by feel. The methodology analyzes historical relative performance, builds standardized model portfolios from the results, and tracks them prospectively from there.

Every subscriber sees the same models, built the same way.

Once a Persistfolio model portfolio is published, its performance is tracked prospectively against the S&P 500. Portfolio changes are recorded as they occur, creating a transparent record of what the methodology actually produced over time.
